Graduation Finger Food

While graduation season is an exciting and proud time of year for parents and kids everywhere, it also means figuring out how to feed all your guests when they come to celebrate the big day. One of the more forgotten-about aspects of graduation-day food are the graduation party finger foods for everyone to nibble on before the main meal. Cheese and crackers are fine and dandy, but if you want to spice up your celebration with some fun graduation party appetizers, we have some ideas for you.

Here are some easy graduation finger foods to try this year:
Chocolate-covered Strawberries: A sweet graduation finger food to snack on while waiting to cut the cake.
  • 24-30 fresh strawberries
  • 6 ounces of white chocolate
  • 8 ounces of dark chocolate
  • 30 flat squares of dark chocolate
  • 30 unwrapped mini Reeses Peanut Butter cups
Wash and dry all strawberries. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler. Dip each strawberry in chocolate and set to cool on wax paper. After all berries are done, melt the dark chocolate and do the same to the strawberries, but dip at 45 degree angle, leaving a white triangle. Allow to cool. Trim all the stems from the berries. Use melted dark chocolate to "glue" a Reese's cup to the top of each berry and then "glue" the chocolate squares on top of that. Place two chocolate dots in the middle of the white triangle.

Traditional Deviled Eggs: Graduation finger foods are most convenient when they can be eaten in one bite!
  • 7 large white eggs, hard boiled and peeled
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. sour pickle relish
  • 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Halve the eggs lengthwise and remove yolks and place in a small bowl. Smash the yolks with a fork and add mayonnaise, relish and mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Fill each egg half with the mixture and garnish with paprika if you wish. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Pita Chips and Artichoke Dip: A portable and yummy finger food for a graduation party that's always a hit.
  • 1 cup thawed, chopped frozen spinach
  • 11/2 cups canned artichoke hearts
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pita chips
Boil spinach and artichokes in water until they are tender and drain and allow to completely dry. Heat cream cheese in microwave for 1 minute. Stir and then add in the rest of the ingredients and stir again. Top each pita with a bit of dip and garnish with shaved carrot.
