Sweet Pea Baby Shower

Picture a newborn baby wrapped snugly in a receiving blanket, just waiting to be cuddled. What better way to celebrate a little pea in a pod, than with a sweet pea baby shower theme or pea in a pod baby shower theme!

A sweet pea shower theme or pea in a pod baby shower theme is perfect to celebrate either a baby boy or baby girl. The colors pink and green make an adorable combination for a little girl; the colors green and white are sweet for a little boy; and the colors yellow and green work nicely if you don't know the gender of the baby.

Here are some sweet pea baby shower ideas to create a pea themed shower that your guests — and the mom-to-be — will love!

  • Invitations: Punchbowl offers a few variations of sweet pea baby shower invitations in different color combinations. The invitation above is the yellow and green version. This pea in the pod invitation is perfect for this baby shower theme! Send this online invitation to your guests and easily track responses. With your Punchbowl invitation, you can include a map/directions to the shower, gift registry information, and a message board to allow guests to comment leading up to the shower.
  • Decorations: To create sweet pea baby shower decorations, first decorate the tables with a green table skirt and white table cloth. Scatter groups of green balloons around the room for sweet pea shower decorations. Have a sweet pea mylar balloons in the center of the group, and have it surrounded by light green and white balloons for a boy, and light green and light pink balloons for a girl. Adorn the expecting Mom with a sash that says, “Mommy-to-Be.” If the party is at a residence, hang a sign on the door that says, “Congratulations Sara and Mike on Your Little Sweet Pea.” If the party is in a hall or venue, hang a banner on the wall.
  • Cake: Use two different size circular pans to make two sweet pea baby shower cakes. One cake pan should be large, and the other one small. The idea is to stack the smaller cake on top of the larger cake. Frost the bottom cake in green, and the top cake in white. Use green frosting to create a pea pod in the center of the top cake. Above the pea pod write, “Welcome.” Below the pea pod write, “Sweet Pea.” For baby showers with large guest lists, bake additional cupcakes to ensure everyone in attendance will have a sweet treat for dessert. Frost the cupcakes with white frosting, and create a pea pod on top.
  • Favors: Visit your local bath and perfume store and select miniature body sprays and body lotions in the colors pink and green or green and white. Choose a light scent for the perfume and lotion. Be sure to stay away from overpowering aromas, as the soon-to-be Mom may be sensitive to strong odors. Another option is to order a “two peas in a pod” candle from an online website. Both options make adorable sweet pea baby shower favors.
