Keep tummies full with these ideas for Thanksgiving recipes for kids:

Snacks

Offer kids Thanksgiving snacks to the little ones to keep them from losing patience before the meal. Put together nutritional options such as finger sandwiches. To start, place pieces of turkey in the sandwich. Cut the sandwich into four smaller squares to make finger sandwiches. Decorate each sandwich to resemble a turkey. Position each piece to look like a diamond. Cut out a circular piece of bread and place it on top of the diamond for the turkey’s face. Adhere it with vegetable cream cheese and place dabs of vegetable cream cheese on the circle and put peas on top for the turkey eyes. Create the waddle with a piece of carrot. Create turkey feathers with slices of cucumber, peppers, or slivers of almonds. Stick them to the vegetable cream cheese spread in between the two pieces of bread. Make sure the “feathers” are visible on the top left and right of the turkey diamond.

Main Course

Plan side dishes suitable for kids to complement the main course. Select simple and basic recipes and leave the parsley and other extra garnishes for dishes for adults. Remember, in the minds of the kids, green means vegetable! Include macaroni and cheese on the menu along with corn bread muffins and mashed potatoes.
Here’s an easy macaroni and cheese recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 8 oz. elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
Boil and drain the macaroni; set aside. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour, salt, and pepper. Once combined, slowly add the milk. Cook and continue to stir until simmering. Stir in the cheese until it’s all melted. Add the drained macaroni to your cheese sauce and stir to coat.

Desserts

Be creative and offer kids Thanksgiving dessert recipes that not only look good, but also taste great! Make pilgrim hats in a few easy steps. Gather your supplies, which include chocolate striped shortbread cookies, large marshmallows, chocolate dip, yellow decorative icing, and toothpicks. Place the shortbread cookies with the stripes face down. Stick a toothpick in each marshmallow, and dip them in chocolate dip. Immediately put one chocolate-dipped marshmallow on top of each cookie. Put the hats in the refrigerator to set. Once set, use the yellow or white icing to create a square buckle on the front of the hat.
