Summer Table Settings
The time to throw some festive summer celebrations is here. Warmer weather, longer days and seasonal fresh food abound, so get inspired with our summer table ideas and make your summer celebration something to remember. Use flowers that are in bloom, fruits that you can pick yourself or buy locally and an outdoor location to set the mood.
Here are some summer table settings and ideas to try this season:
Stripes: A fun and very festive summer tablescape is to incorporate stripes across the table. Use a striped table cloth and paint stripes using glass paint on mason jars. Fill the jars with fresh-picked wildflowers and flowering branches. Set the table with plates that have a contrasting colored stripe and do the same with nice linen napkins. By each place setting, place a small, single flower vase with one flower. Some great flower ideas are dahlias, peonies, wild roses and lilies.
Primary Colors: Brighten up your summer table decorations with decorations in all primary colors. Set the table with a red, blue or yellow tablecloth to start things off. Fill square wooden vases with sunflowers, red roses and bluebells. Use all clear glass plates, bowls, glasses and polished silver flatware. This is a great decor idea for Fourth of July parties or a graduation party. Use red checkered placecards to show guests where to sit and write the names in silver pen.
French Country: The provincial style is all the rage, so carry on the trend with your own version of a European siesta. Use a lot of linen and burlap, metal baskets, twine or rustic ribbon to decorate the table. A neutral or pale pastel color palette works well for this theme and use empty wine bottles with a partially melted candle in the top as place holders. Paint the front with just a splash of blackboard paint and write everyone's name using a chalk pen.
Brighten any of your summer place settings with the colors of the season, especially bright greens and florals. The table doesn't even have to be done in a theme, just incorporate the environment and all of the beautiful natural elements found when things are in bloom in June, July and August.
